Everton have up to eight managers on their list as they look to appoint a creditable replacement for Carlo Ancelotti, with former Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe part of it.

Sky Sports reported last Friday that while Rafa Benitez is one of the favourites for the job alongside Nuno Espirito Santo, Howe is part of those still being considered to succeed the Italian on Merseyside.

The 43-year-old was linked with Celtic but the deal fell through last month despite over three months of talks.

We asked our esteemed panel of Everton Super Fans over on Facebook whether they would love to see Howe at Goodison Park.

One felt the links with Benitez could be a smokescreen to deflect Howe’s appointment, the majority are not keen to have him their beloved club.

Here’s what they said:

While Howe led Bournemouth to two promotions and kept them up in the English top-flight for five seasons, he appeared to have run out of ideas by the end of his last term in charge as they went down on the last day of 2019-20.

That definitely has not done him any favours with some of former suitors.

Everton need a young manager that plays an exciting brand of football and gets results.

Marco Silva failed to deliver the latter, but Howe combined both for five years at Dean Court.

The Toffees target was once even seen as a prime candidate for the England job [BBC] given his style, and we think he would actually impress at a club like Everton if given enough backing in the transfer market.

Howe grew up supporting the club [ECHO], and having him alongside Director of Football Marcel Brands could be perfect for the Goodison Park outfit.

He could succeed where Silva flopped and has already proven himself in the top-flight.

However, it appears owner Farhad Moshiri will be looking to appoint a big name, and we hope it is not Benitez.

In other Everton news, Moshiri must turn to Toffees fan favourite amid reported doubts about Benitez.
