Fabrizio Romano provides update on Moise Kean's situation at Everton
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has been speaking on the latest edition of the Here We Go podcast about Everton striker Moise Kean and PSG.
The 21-year-old spent last season on loan at the French giants and scored an impressive 17 goals in all competitions. PSG want him back but were trying to negotiate a loan, which Everton were not keen on [Liverpool Echo].
Kean is currently back on Merseyside as he waits to see if he will be allowed to rejoin PSG either on loan or in a permanent deal [Here We Go].
Romano said: “It’s not an easy situation. He wants to go to Paris Saint-Germain.
“Paris Saint-Germain want him on loan with [an option to buy], but Rafael Benitez is absolutely against this solution.
“He wants to keep the player or sell the player, not [a] loan with [option to buy].
“So that’s why the situation with Kean is not easy at the moment, the player will push to try and join Paris Saint-Germain, but it’s up to the two clubs to complete the agreement.”
Benitez stopping Kean leave?
So it seems as if PSG want Kean on loan, but Benitez is standing firm and either wants money for the player, which he can then use this summer, or he wants to keep the Italian.
This is probably the best thing for the Toffees as if PSG crumble and pay Everton money for Kean, Benitez could have quite the war chest to spend [Fabrizio Romano].
However, if PSG don’t stump up the cash and Benitez can get the best out of Kean, the Toffees might find the backup to Dominic Calvert-Lewin that they could potentially need this year.
So, this transfer saga seems far from over, but as it stands, Benitez is standing between Kean and PSG, unless the Ligue 1 side come up with a fee that Everton deem acceptable.
This is an honourable stance from the Spaniard and proves that already he is putting his club first, which can only be a good thing.
