Sky Sports editor Alan Myers shared the update, and when asked by Thomas – an Everton fan – what the thought process behind the signing is he replied:

Decent deal

We do not expect Begovic to come in and challenge Pickford for his starting spot, but the 34-year-old can be trusted to do a decent job whenever he is called upon.

The former Chelsea and Stoke City goalie featured in 51 games across all competitions for the Cherries last season, and he would definitely fancy his chances of giving the England international a run for his money.

Everton need such a reliable veteran providing quality cover and competition over the next two seasons, and Pickford surely can learn one or two things from him as he aims to keep getting better game after game.

Understandably, boss Rafa Benitez wants such an experienced figure in the department, and the youngsters can benefit from his wealth of knowledge too.

We expect some top additions over the course of the coming weeks, and some major squad changes are also likely to take place.

The new Toffees manager will be keen to have a team suited to his style and taste, and the summer activities would definitely have a huge say on how his first campaign at Goodison Park goes.
