Angers ready to cash in on Everton-linked centre-mid Angelo Fulgini

Angers are ready to cash in on Everton-linked Angelo Fulgini this summer and are valuing the central midfielder at £12million, according to the Daily Mail.

In May, Ouest-France reported that Everton had made an offer to sign the 24-year-old.

The Mail now claims that Crystal Palace and Newcastle are also interested in the former France Under-21s international, who is described as Anger’s “best player” after the “best season of his career” in Ligue 1 last term.

It is understood that he’s wanted by other clubs in France, as well as Spain, after being the second most fouled player in Europe’s top five leagues last season.

Better than a lot of what we’ve got

Marcel Brands and Rafa Benitez need to pull their finger out a bit now because they’ve added some rather underwhelming signings so far and nothing else.

Andros Townsend and Demarai Gray will play a role next season, as will new second-choice goalkeeper Asmir Begovic. But do any of those signings strengthen the starting line-up? Absolutely not.

Fulgini has the potential to be able to do that after a dazzling season in Ligue 1.

The Ivory Coast-born midfielder, who can play in the centre of the park, in an attacking role or on the left-wing, scored 10 goals and supplied four assists in 36 appearances across all competitions for Angers last season.

He grabbed goals against Rennes and Ligue 1 champions Lille while his form in the Coupe de France helped them get to the quarter-finals, before being beaten by Paris Saint-Germain.

The Mail reports that Fulgini is “versatile, creative, skilful and [a] set-piece specialist”.

Do Everton need a player like that? Yes, they absolutely do.

And we feel that Fulgini can play in a number of roles that need to be bolstered before the summer transfer window closes.

Brands will face competition from a lot of clubs to get this deal done but it’s time for him to have another stab at landing the Frenchman after we assume that reported offer in May fell on deaf ears.

In other Everton news, Fabrizio Romano has mooted a move to Goodison Park for this “perfect” midfielder who was once compared to Xavi.
