Everton could move to sign Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks
Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks could make a move to Everton this summer, according to Sky Sports Italy journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Speaking via his Twitch channel, Romano reported that Winks, 25, could swap North London for Merseyside amid speculation surrounding his future at Spurs.
According to Football Insider, Spurs’ managing director of football Fabio Paratici will listen to offers for the 10-times England international, who could be sold for £30million.
And in the coming days, something could happen in regards to a move to Goodison Park to join up with Rafa Benitez.
“It is a possibility for Everton, we will see in the next few days,” said Romano.
Winks in, Delph out?
Everton need to refresh their squad in a number of different areas and the centre of the midfield is no different.
Winks is a player who’s probably not good enough to hold down a regular spot at Tottenham but he has impressed there in his career and he could be great for a team like ours.
He’s very experienced in the Premier League now having earned over 100 top-flight appearances in England while also playing regularly for Spurs in the Europa League and Champions League.
We definitely see Winks as someone who’d be a major improvement on Fabian Delph, who’s in the final year of his contract at Goodison Park and could be on his way out this summer.
Times journalist Paul Joyce reported earlier this month that an exit is likely for the 31-year-old former Manchester City man, who plays a similar deep-lying midfield role to Winks.
Speaking in 2018, ex-Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino was quoted by the London Evening Standard as comparing Winks to Barcelona and Spain legends Xavi and Andres Iniesta.
Pochettino also dubbed Winks as the “perfect midfield player”.
While three years have passed since then, Winks has matured but has found it tough to move on that from level when Pochettino was in charge.
A move to a new club could do him wonders and work out excellently for the Blues.
