Everton star James Rodriguez has been told he is free to leave the club
Everton have informed James Rodriguez that he is free to leave Goodison Park this summer, according to a report from the Liverpool Echo.
They claim that the Colombian has been told he “doesn’t feature in Rafa Benitez’s plans this season”. Meaning that if a suitable offer is received, the 30-year-old will be ending his very short spell at Goodison Park.
They also claim that “one source” has told them that the Colombian is on roughly £200,000 per week at Goodison Park. This is an extraordinary amount of money for a team that is not in Europe to pay, so it is no surprise that the Spaniard wants Rodriguez off the wage bill.

Will Rodriguez leave?
It is very clear that Rafael Benitez is not keen on the Colombian, and he can leave Goodison Park. However, finding a destination for the former Real Madrid man could be a bit harder.
Rodriguez has been described as “extraordinary” by former Real Madrid striker Fernando Morientes, but it seems as if he is not someone who Benitez wants in his side.
The report from the Liverpool Echo states that people from “within the club” believe the Toffees will struggle to move him on and that finding a permanent destination for Rodriguez is “unlikely”.

Therefore, we expect the Colombian to leave Everton, but a loan is unlikely to shift him entirely off the wage bill, which could be a problem for bringing in other players.
So it appears as if Everton face a problem with Rodriguez, and they just have to hope a club comes in and is willing to take the Colombian so that the Toffees can get him off the wage bill.
