Kevin Campbell backs reported Everton move for Anthony Martial
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell has backed Everton to complete a loan move for Manchester United attacker Anthony Martial.
The Daily Star credited the Toffees with an interest in the Frenchman, who could be shown the exit door this month.
Campbell labelled Martial “electric” and believed that an agreement could be reached between the two clubs.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Campbell said, “There could be a loan worked out.
“You don’t always have to pay all of the wages, although United would like them to pay as much as they can.
“Martial playing regular football is an asset, they paid around £60million for him, so he needs to play football.
“When he fancies it, he’s hard to stop – he’s electric.”
Singing Martial, even on loan, would be a major statement by Rafa Benitez and the Toffees ahead of the new season.
Football Insider reported that the attacker is on £250,000-a-week, and that could be a big stumbling block moving forward.
We are lacking options in the final third, and with James Rodriguez likely to leave Goodison Park, he could leave the space for Martial.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin will lead the line, and having the Red Devils man and Richarlison on either side would be very dangerous.
We are still crying out for major transfers, with our squad depth now sorted, it is time for Marcel Brands to pull out the big guns.
