Everton have made signing a new right-back this month their latest priority for Rafa Benitez.

Seamus Coleman has signed a new deal, but competition is needed and Denzel Dumfries continues to be linked.

Ryan Taylor has shared an update on Tuesday, insisting that a right-back will arrive at Goodison Park, Dumfries or not.

Writing for the Express on Tuesday, Taylor shared that Dumfries is still on the table, but a deal will happen regardless of his future.

"Both players are of serious interest to the Toffees but little progress has been made during talks for the Dutch international," he wrote.

"The club have been trying to convince the right-back to join but Dumfries wants to see if any other offers arrive, particularly given some of the clubs that have been linked with him since Euro 2020.

"Signing competition for Seamus Coleman is amongst Everton's priorities for the rest of the window so a right-back is likely to arrive, Dumfries or not."

The latest.

Dumfries is the name on everyone's lips right now in Merseyside, but updates continue to differ as each day passes.

Gazzetta Dello Sport have reported that the Toffees have withdrawn from the race for the PSV Eindhoven, but that may have changed.

With just above three weeks to go in the window this month, things could change very quickly, and should someone such as James Rodriguez or Fabian Delph leave, money would be available.

Dumfries could then come back onto the table, and Brands would surely be able to seriously increase the money that the right-back is on.

Expect movement on our hunt for a new right-back this week, Benitez will surely want him in before the Premier League season gets underway.
