Kevin Campbell urges Fabian Delph to find new club

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Kevin Campbell has urged Everton veteran Fabian Delph to find a new club this summer as Rafa Benitez begins his reign.

The Athletic has reported that the midfielder is likely to be snubbed for a new deal, with the Toffees wanting to get rid of his £100,000-a-week wages.

Campbell insisted that Benitez will want more signings this month, and getting rid of the likes of Delph will help that.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Campbell said, “I just think as the new manager comes in, he’s got to trim the squad.

“Getting people off the wage bill is one thing, but getting bodies out to bring them in is another. A lot of players have been bought by previous managers.

“Benitez needs to shuffle the pack and it would be good for Delph to find another club.”

Get rid.

Delph has not been best pleased with the press attention received this summer, and it is probably best to cut ties.

Finding a club that will be able to pay an ageing player those sorts of wages though could prove to be a difficult task.

Benitez didn’t take Delph on the tour to the United States, but that was because of supposed COVID-19 protocols.

The Spaniard will be desperate for reinforcements, but it looks as though we are going to need to sell players to bring them in.

Hopefully, that happens soon, with the season approaching at great pace.
