Kevin Campbell reacts to latest updates on Everton pursuit of Denzel Dumfries

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Kevin Campbell has insisted that Everton will lose to race to sign PSV Eindhoven defender Denzel Dumfries.

Inter Milan will have money at their disposal after selling Romelu Lukaku, and the Toffees only want a loan move [Liverpool Echo].

Campbell believes that the club willing to spend the cash will always win, and on this occasion, that isn’t Everton.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Campbell said, “Not going to happen.

“They want him on loan, and Inter have got money after selling Lukaku. They can meet the demands.

“One wants to buy, one wants to loan, the club who is buying is going to win.”

Wave goodbye.

Despite being labelled as our priority signing many times throughout the summer, it looks as though we haven’t pushed hard enough.

Fabrizio Romano has even reported that the Toffees are making no progress with the Dutchman, leaving the door open for Inter.

With Seamus Coleman and Jonjoe Kenny already at the club, it looks all but certain that we will be going into the Premier League season with those two.

Benitez must be happy enough with that, or he would have pushed the club to kick on with their negotiations.

Dumfries doesn’t look like the right-back we will be getting any more, but it doesn’t shut the door on any potential deal this month.
