Everton have been strongly linked with a move for Sporting CP midfielder Matheus Nunes throughout the summer.

Record have been all over the news, recently claiming that the Toffees are the main contenders for the Brazilian.

Their latest update doesn't make for good reading though, with Nunes making a decision on his future during this window.

Record have now reported on Tuesday that Nunes is "immune" to the outside interest coming from other clubs.

It is suggested that the midfielder would prefer to spend one more season in Portugal rather than make a major move during this campaign.

Newcastle are also in the race for the South American, who could end up cost up to £17.1million in this final week.

Everton

Not happening.

It looks as though we are going to have to look elsewhere.

There are others areas of the squad that need improving first over our midfield, including the final third and right-back.

We want players who are desperate to wear the Everton shirt, and if Nunes is "immune" to any noise from the Toffees, he clearly isn't that.

Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure have shined in both Premier League games so far this season and spending big money in that area wouldn't make much sense.

Benitez is clearly a big fan, but it looks as though he won't be bringing him to Goodison Park during this window.
