Kevin Campbell reacts to Everton problems in defence
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell has insisted that Rafa Benitez will be scratching his head over defensive mistakes in Everton’s opening games.
Yerry Mina was solid against Leeds, but Michael Keane made yet another mistake which led to a goal this season.
Campbell believes that needs to change, and without these mistakes, the Toffees could have left Elland Road with yet another win.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Campbell said, “His antics weren’t great.
“Again, Klich’s goal was right through the heart of the defence and Michael Keane, that’s two mistakes in two games now.
“I’m sure Rafa Benitez will be looking at that and thinking if we tidy that up, Everton win the game and that’s big right now.”
Look at it.
Benitez will be looking at this long and hard, coming up with solutions to the problems at the heart of his defence.
Ben Godfrey returned to the group at Huddersfield last night, but didn’t feature, but that could change this weekend.
Many would believe that it will be Keane to drop out if a change is made, especially after mistakes against Southampton and Leeds.
Hopefully, that one change can bring much more stability, with not much else left to pick at after this near-perfect start to the season.
