Everton target Ainsley Maitland-Niles holds talks with Arsenal

Ainsley Maitland-Niles has held talks with Arsenal about a deadline day move to Everton, according to Sami Mokbel.

The Daily Mail reporter revealed that the 24-year-old spoke to Mikel Arteta and Edu on his Twitter account after the Toffees made an offer to take the England international on loan.

However, as it stands, he will be staying at the Emirates despite publicly asking to leave the club on his Instagram.

Everton to miss out on Maitland-Niles?

As it stands, it appears as if the Toffees won’t be signing the Arsenal academy graduate, but Mokbel does claim that the situation could change.

Therefore, this could be one to keep an eye on as the day progresses and the transfer window edges towards its closure.

Maitland-Niles is extremely versatile and has been described as “outstanding” by Stuart Pearce in the past and could provide another option for Rafael Benitez [talkSPORT 14/092020].

We hope that Arsenal see sense and let the 24-year-old move to Goodison and play some games because, in the Gunners’ first three league games, he has played just 19 minutes.

Therefore, it is no wonder that he wants to leave, and a move to Everton could benefit both him and the Toffees over the course of the season.

In other Everton news, the Toffees are set to make a desperate last-gasp bid for one player.
