Lee Dixon slams Jordan Pickford in England draw v Poland
Lee Dixon was not left impressed with Everton stopper Jordan Pickford in England’s 1-1 draw against Poland last night.
Despite having very little to do all night in Warsaw, the Toffees keeper almost handed the hosts a goal before they got their own late on.
Messing around the ball at the back led to a blocked clearance which led to him needing to scramble back quickly to avoid embarrassment.
Speaking on ITV during live commentary last night, Dixon insisted that Pickford deserved some luck after a brilliant summer.
“Huge, no concentration,” he said.
“He’s not had a lot to do but he gets away with one there, he has earned his luck with the amount of clean sheets he’s kept.”
It was a complete mess, and we are very glad he was able to prevent that moment from happening in the end.
Pickford has come under big scrutiny in the past, but was sensational in the EUROs and became somewhat of a hero.
One moment could have seen all of that thrown out of the window, we all know how fickle the support can be up and down the country.
Rafa Benitez will be glad to get his number one back with only one goal conceded and confidence still brimming high.
It is time to kick on from that clean-sheet at Brighton and keep pushing to get better, with concentration needed more than ever.
This was simply just one moment to forget.
