Mark Lawrenson predicts Everton win over Burnley
Everton may be pushed a bit but will emerge victorious against Burnley this weekend, claims BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson.
The Toffees have enjoyed a good start to this season under manager Rafa Benitez and are one of the division’s in-form teams.
Burnley haven’t started as well as their opponents on Monday, but Sean Dyche has managed to get some decent results in the early stages of the season.
In his column for the BBC, Lawrenson predicted a 2-0 win for Everton and said, “Everton have made a good start under Rafa Benitez and I am expecting that to continue here.
“Burnley will make life difficult for them, of course – but the Toffees have enough quality to break them down.
“Benitez has got them playing some good football, and they work hard and are very competitive as well. It’s a good mix.”
Set for a good weekend
A fixture against Burnley may not worry too many Evertonians, especially at Goodison Park.
However, they know that if the Clarets dig their heels in, they’re as tough a side to break down as any in the English top flight.
That said, Benitez has a number of players in good form and despite the absence of Seamus Coleman, he has the likes of Lucas Digne, Demarai Gray, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison, all of whom have started the season well.
Ben Godfrey is also expected to return to the fray so a routine victory may be on the cards for the Merseyside outfit.
Benitez must ensure that his players remain focused on this one from start to end as Sean Dyche will come in with a plan and look to frustrate the hosts.
