Everton Super Fans react to news on Ben Godfrey

This is part of a regular series from our panel of Everton Super Fans. Each week, Super Fans from our Goodison News Facebook page will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around Goodison Park.

Everton Super Fans have flocked to a post on the Goodison News Facebook page about Ben Godfrey potentially starting his first game under Rafael Benitez.

The Liverpool Echo claim that the 23-year-old has returned to training and should be ready to make his first start for the Spaniard against Burnley.

Godfrey had missed the start of the season, but it appears as if he is back, and many of our Super Fans are happy about this. However, others don’t want to see him at right-back.

Big news for the Toffees.

Having Godfrey back is huge news for Everton, and you would think he will be starting at centre-back after the latest update on Seamus Coleman.

The 32-year-old has been passed fit to play against Burnley, which means Godfrey should be playing at centre-back [Liverpool Echo].

The former Norwich City man is naturally a centre-back but can fill in at right-back or at left-back, and that shouldn’t be required against the Clarets.

However, this is where Everton’s failure to sign another right-back could hurt them because they are one injury away from having to play either Godfrey or Mason Holgate out of position.

It is clear that some of our Super Fans are excited to have Godfrey back, but others don’t want to see him at right-back, which probably won’t happen.

In other Everton news, Mark Lawrenson has made his prediction on the Burnley game.
