Andy Townsend was pleased with Richarlison's link-up play in the Everton vs Burnley game on Monday night at Goodison Park.

The Brazilian led the line in Dominic Calvert-Lewin's absence and put in a decent shift off the ball for the Toffees as they beat the Clarets 3-1.

In the first half, he dropped deep to play a defence-splitting pass for Demarai Gray which very nearly led to the hosts opening the scoring.

Speaking about it on co-commentary on the Premier League World Feed, Townsend, who's also a pundit for talkSPORT, said: "That was fabulous from Richarlison. Absolutely brilliant pass to Gray and it could've led to Everton's first."

Good game

There's usually not as much responsibility on Richarlison's shoulders, especially when Calvert-Lewin is starting.

However, in his absence, he spearheaded the attack and while he didn't find the back of the net, he did a lot of work off the ball and also away from the 18-yard area.

Had the England international been there, the Toffees would've had a more comfortable outing against a resolute and organised Sean Dyche side.

Richarlison himself has had such a hectic workload and needed the international break to reinvigorate himself.

He had been playing non-stop prior to the international break and the rest looks to have helped him as he appeared extremely energetic and sharp from minute one, something that lasted for the entire game.

Hopefully, Calvert-Lewin is back soon as Richarlison needs a talisman leading the line while he can contribute to the build-up.
