Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure likened to N'Golo Kante
Owen Hargreaves was blown away by Abdoulaye Doucoure’s performance for Everton in their 3-1 win against Burnley on Monday night.
The Toffees continued their impressive start to the new season with an impressive performance against the Clarets.
However, they had to come back from a goal down, but eventually ended up with the desired result and delighted their home fans.
After the game, speaking on Premier League Productions’ post-match show, Hargreaves said, “He’s much like [N’golo] Kante. It depends on the team.
“If you have someone defensive sitting then he has the energy and the legs to go forward or if there’s someone attacking then he prefers sitting back.”
Doucoure is a phenomenal player who’s rated very highly by the Goodison Park faithful, but putting him on par with Kante is a different level altogether.
The Frenchman is widely recognised as the best ball winner in Europe at the moment and arguably walks into every playing eleven.
Doucoure, on the other hand, is not quite there yet, as if he would, there’s a good chance the big clubs would be after him.
He seems to be enjoying life on Merseyside and it’s good to see him playing such unbelievable football at Goodison Park.
The stats in the tweet above showcase just how impactful he was on the night. He was all over the pitch and without him, the Toffees would’ve found it tough to get back into the game.
Benitez’ new system appears to have given him more responsibility, and he is relishing that and shining every single week – long may that continue.
