Kevin Campbell blown away by Andros Townsend for Everton v Burnley
Kevin Campbell was left blown away by Everton winger Andros Townsend in the 3-1 win over Burnley last night.
The free-agent signing delivered an assist and curled home a wonder strike to turn the score around at Goodison Park.
Campbell labelled his strike as “exceptional” and rightly singled him out as the Man of the Match from the win.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Campbell said, “A player like Towsend is exactly what Everton need.
“He can supply the crosses and he can score a worldly, and wow, he was exceptional yesterday, I think he was the Man of the Match.
“He knows the game, knows what to deliver and to get this opportunity, he’s going to grab it with both hands. It just shows his qualities.”
What a goal.
It’s easy to talk about his whole performance, but we have to take a moment to admire that wonderful strike.
Townsend has that in the locker, and sometimes a side needs motivation from some magic, and that is exactly what he delivered.
Minutes later, Demarai Gray scored the third and secured all three points, and despite the first hour looking shocking, we really turned it off after that.
Arriving on a free after leaving Crystal Palace, there was little expectation on the shoulders of Townsend, but he has certainly delivered so far.
Working with Rafa Benitez has to be a big part to play in that, and we can’t wait to see even more as the season progresses.
