Efan Ekoku: Ben Godfrey was one of the players of the 20/21 season
Everton defender Ben Godfrey was one of the players of the 2020/21 Premier League season, claims Efan Ekoku.
The English defender moved to Goodison Park last summer and has been a mainstay in the first team since then.
He’s operated in a number of positions giving Carlo Ancelotti and now Rafa Benitez much-needed versatility on the field of play.
Speaking on the Premier League’s world feed, Ekoku said, “I’ve been really impressed with Godfrey since he joined last summer. He was one of the players of the season. A really versatile option for Rafa Benitez.”
Godfrey moved to Goodison Park with some fanfare as he impressed previously with Norwich and was expected to take his game to the next level at Everton.
It’s fair to say he’s done just that and at 23, is already the best centre-back in this side.
He’s quick, agile, good in the air and has the ability to time a tackle perfectly.
His return to the eleven has made this side look in better shape and Benitez would be delighted to have him in the team.
Once Seamus Coleman returns, we’re expecting to see him move to his customary centre-back position and Michael Keane may have to make way.
He’s really impressed today as well and we cannot wait to see how he develops in the coming years.
