Andros Townsend reveals mood in the Everton dressing room after 1-1 v Man Utd

Andros Townsend scored against Manchester United as Everton drew 1-1 at Old Trafford in the Premier League clash on Saturday.

Anthony Martial scored just before half-time for the Red Devils. Everton responded after the break with Townsend scoring the equaliser from a brilliant counter-attacking move.

It was a solid performance from Everton who could have won the match right at the end. Tom Davies got a brilliant opportunity inside the box, but instead of taking the shot himself, he chose to pass Yerry Mina who was in an offside position.

Townsend was asked after the match to comment on the mood in the dressing room. He replied to BBC Sport: “It’s a difficult one because on the one hand we’re delighted to come to Old Trafford and get a point with the injuries we had but we’re a little disappointed not to take all three.”

Confidence

Benitez said after the game that he was pleased with the effort from his team. The comment from Townsend is an indication of the growing confidence in the Everton team at the moment.

Everton were without two important players for this game (Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison), but they looked so composed and confident throughout the game, even when United were dominating.

The Toffees have made a bright start to the season, and Townsend has played a massive role in it.

The 30-year-old joined the Toffees in the summer on a free transfer, and he is enjoying, by his own admission, newfound confidence at his new club.

He has already scored five goals and provided three assists in all competitions. However, what has really impressed everyone is the work rate he has been putting in every single game.

Jermaine Jenas, while speaking to BT Sport, suggested yesterday that Townsend could be one of the signings of the season. So far, he is proving the pundit right.
