Kevin Campbell believes Everton should sign AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie if they can sign him on a free transfer.

Online news outlet 90min reported last week [27/09/21] that Everton, alongside a host of elite-level European clubs, have made an approach for the 24-year-old Ivory Coast international, who wants to move to the Premier League.

Kessie’s current contract expires in the summer of 2022, and thus he could leave the Serie A giants for nothing next year.

Ex-Everton centre-forward Campbell is excited about the possibility of the “devastating” [Antonio Cassano, Bobo TV via MilanLive] midfielder signing for the Blues.

“I think he’s someone else who can come into that midfield,” Campbell told Goodison News.

“You’re talking about a squad now, aren’t you? Can you fatten a squad so if an Allan is not fit, then a Kessie plays? Then there will be times that Allan, Kessie and [Abdoulaye] Doucoure can play, so that’s what you’re looking at. Can we rotate and rest some players and still be as strong?

“You need those players. Everton have to go for cups as well.

“If they can get him for free, they’re in business.”

Kessie has made 191 appearances for AC Milan since signing, initially on loan, from Atalanta in 2017.

He scored 14 goals last season and is well-known as one of the most efficient penalty-takers in Europe’s top-five leagues.
