Everton in pursuit of Getafe midfielder John Patrick

Everton are in the hunt to sign Getafe midfielder John Patrick in the coming months, according to TEAMtalk.

The online outlet has reported on their website that Manchester United, Burnley and Leeds are also interested in the 18-year-old in the next year.

Patrick is currently in the final year of his contract in Spain and could be available for free next summer or at a bargain price in January.

Patrick has had a whirlwind career at Getafe and that has opened the door to the international scene.

The 6’4″ giant has reportedly pledged his allegiance to the Republic of Ireland recently and will represent their under-19s side.

Despite making numerous senior appearances for the Spanish side, Patrick has since been getting regular football with their ‘B’ team.

Our last opponents Manchester United have been said to be watching closely over the past year and should offer serious competition.

Bargain.

We have seen just how good our signings have been in the summer window, and they have proved that you don’t have to spend millions to hit the jackpot.

Patrick has brilliant exposure in Spain having featured in the Getafe side, and now his contract is running down, he could make the switch to the Premier League.

Marcel Brands will be keeping a close eye on the ongoing situation between now and January, and making the move early could hand us the upperhand.

Should Leeds, Burnley or Manchester United look to wait until the summer, the door could be opened to an early winter move – something that is likely after the exit of James Rodriguez.
