Kevin Campbell: No chance of Everton risking Lucas Digne injury
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell has insisted that there is no chance of Everton risking the injury of Lucas Digne this week against West Ham.
The Bobble shared that the Frenchman had a grade-one tear on his hamstring, but Rafa Benitez confirmed that he has returned to training.
Campbell believes that there is no reason to risk Digne, as one match could easily turn into a month out injured should it get worst.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Campbell said, “No, he won’t play.
“No chance. It’s just not worth the risk for the sake of another week, or two. You go and re-injure that, then it could be another month.
“It’s not worth the risk.”
Campbell addresses this perfectly, and we may need to watch through our hands should the defender go down against the Irons.
Digne went to the international break with France last week with no huge chances of featuring in the Nations League, but still came back with a problem.
Theo Hernandez was always going to start as he is the number one choice, but yet this injury still happened in training.
That could show that this problem was on the verge of happening instantly and would have occurred either way.
We thought it would be time to rest, recover and return – forgetting about this weekend, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
