Rafa Benitez provides injury updates ahead of Everton v West Ham
Rafa Benitez has revealed that Everton will be without four players when West Ham United come visiting on Sunday.
The Toffees are hoping Colombian international centre-back Yerry Mina can be available for selection for the clash having travelled to South America for this month’s World Cup qualifiers.
However, the attacking duo of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison remain out having failed to reach full fitness during the break, while midfield duo Fabian Delph and Andre Gomes have not recovered from their knocks.
The ECHO’s Phil Kirkbride provided Benitez’s updates on his personal Twitter account.
He posted: “Benitez says DCL and Richarlison out. Digne fit again. Mina: “Hopefully, he will be here and available” after international duty.”
“Fabian Delph (shoulder) and Andre Gomes (calf) continue to be out.”
Not good news
The international break was supposed to help serve as a massive boost for Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison, and while both have returned to individual training sessions and are already playing with the ball, the Hammers game will be too early for them.
Andros Townsend and Demarai Gray have stepped up in the absence of the duo, but having them available would have been great, and it remains to be seen if they will return to action anytime soon.
The England international is now set to miss his fifth league game of the season, while his Brazilian counterpart is set to sit out of a fourth consecutive league game.
They have been involved in five goals between them, and their impacts have been greatly missed so far.
While the same cannot be said of Delph and Gomes, they remain capable of helping Everton, and hopefully, they will be back in action ahead of the busy weeks heading into the festive period.
