Sky Sports won't televise Antonio Conte's league bow with Spurs against Everton

Antonio Conte’s first Premier League game as Tottenham Hotspur boss at Everton on Sunday will not be televised by Sky Sports, according to Sportsmail.

The broadcaster did not select the 2pm kick-off at Goodison Park for TV coverage earlier in the season, and given their policy of not switching their picks after they have been confirmed, they are set to miss out on covering a major event despite paying £3.6billion for Premier League live rights.

Sky Sports want to avoid causing disruption to clubs and match-going fans, and that means changing their initial plans for the Everton-Spurs match is off the cards.

Blow

The new Tottenham boss is box office, and missing the chance to broadcast his first league game on his return to the English top-flight is definitely a blow for Sky Sports.

Everton manager Rafa Benitez is also one of the biggest names in the job, and any broadcaster would relish the chance to show the Spaniard and Conte on the touchline.

Instead, Sky will be sticking with their initial pick of Arsenal v Watford, and most of their viewers will definitely be disappointed.

Apart from the fact that the Italian will be making his league bow as Spurs boss, the game is of huge significance to the Toffees.

Everton are looking to avoid a fourth straight league defeat following losses to Wolverhampton Wanderers, Watford and West Ham United, and the fans will be expecting Benitez to deliver.

Sky will not be at Goodison Park to cover such a huge event, though, and their decision-makers surely regret not picking the clash for TV coverage earlier in the season.

In other Everton news, an injured Toffees ace is expected to return after int’l break amid fresh update.
