Stefan de Vrij offered to Everton by his agents

Everton have been offered the chance to sign Inter Milan defender Stefan de Vrij by his agents, according to The Northern Echo.

The report claims that a number of clubs have been flagged about the availability of the 29-year-old.

Barring the Toffees, Newcastle and Tottenham Hotspur are the other clubs who have been informed about the Dutchman.

According to Calciomercato, Inter are not willing to rule out the sale of de Vrij as it would come with heavy financial gains – something which they’re in dire need of, at the moment.

Worth considering

Rafa Benitez wanted a centre-back in the summer, but the board failed to deliver one, leaving him to rely on the players he’s got.

A lot of it was down to the fact that the Toffees were complying with FFP rules, having been guilty of breaching them in the past.

There’s a good chance that they return in January on the lookout for another defender, and de Vrij could be the perfect short-term option.

Given Inter’s financial situation, they’ve not got the stronger hand in terms of bargaining and if the Dutchman wants to leave, then they’re unlikely to demand a huge transfer fee.

It remains to be seen whether or not Everton make a move for the Dutchman in January.
