Everton handed boost in their pursuit of Donny van de Beek

Everton have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Donny van de Beek after Barcelona pulled out of the race.

Sport claim that the La Liga giants and Xavi, in particular, are not that keen on recruiting the Dutchman.

The Toffees tried to sign the 24-year-old in the summer, and now that Barcelona are out of the race, you would think they have a good chance of signing him in January [Fabrizio Romano].

They have been linked with making a move for him in the winter window, and this latest report could indicate that they can steal a march and bring him in [ESPN].

However, now that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been sacked by Manchester United could the Red Devils start playing the Dutchman?

Well, he started the match in the Champions League on Tuesday night, so it is possible.

Whoever the new manager is could build the team around van de Beek; he really is that good.

So, it will be fascinating to see what happens with van de Beek from now until January.

Hopefully, from the Toffees’ point of view, he barely plays, and they can swoop in and pick him up on loan.

Remember, he has been described as “excellent” by Paul Scholes in the past, so it would be great to see him at Goodison Park [BT].

This news about Barcelona is good but could Solskjaer leaving scupper any potential deal?

Well, it is certainly possible, but hopefully, it doesn’t, as he is exactly what the Toffees need.
