Rafael Benitez's Finch Farm change has annoyed some at Everton
Rafael Benitez’s decision to get rid of Danny Donachie has annoyed some at Everton, according to a new report.
The Athletic claim that the Scotsman was a popular figure at Finch Farm, but Donachie was let go after the Spaniard conducted a review into the Toffees’ injury situation.
This has “ruffled a few feathers” among the Everton squad, and it seems as if they maybe feel that the decision was harsh.
In fairness to Benitez, since he got rid of the Scotsman, the Toffees’ injury situation has improved, and he is now only really missing Yerry Mina and Dominic Calvert-Lewin from his ideal starting XI.
Problems mounting at Everton.
It seems like things are going from bad to worse for both Everton and Benitez.
After their 4-1 humiliation in the Merseyside derby against Liverpool, the Toffees have slipped to 14th in the table and are just five points above the relegation zone.
If results don’t go their way before they play Arsenal on Monday night, Everton could be just two points above the drop zone.
So something needs to change, and it seems as if Donachie’s didn’t go down too well with many at Finch Farm.
He had been with the club for a long time, so you can see why getting rid of him might have caused some problems at Finch Farm.
Hopefully, over time, the players and other members of staff realise that this was a professional decision by Benitez, and it was clearly something that he felt had to happen.
