Ally McCoist and Alan Brazil have a pop at absent Everton star

Ally McCoist and Alan Brazil have ripped into Dominic Calvert-Lewin after he was linked with a move to Arsenal.

The Daily Mail report that the Gunners want to sign the 24-year-old from the Toffees, despite the England striker being injured.

This didn’t go down well with the Scottish pair who had their say on Calvert-Lewin on talkSPORT this morning [03 December].

McCoist said: “The Everton supporters will be absolutely livid up there.

“He’s not fit, and we’ve got him moving to Arsenal. He’s got a priority to get fit and get Everton out [of trouble].

“The fact of the matter is, his job is to get fit and get back in that team; that’s what the Everton fans want.”

Brazil added: “Everton fans are hurting at the moment, Benitez is hurting at the moment, and the guy is coming up [on an advert] at half-time shaving?

“People get the hump, and Everton fans I know are getting the hump.”

Harsh assessment of Calvert-Lewin.

The England striker has been missing since the third league game of the season, but it isn’t his fault that he has been linked with Arsenal!

The striker has been involved with Sky Sports and a few adverts while he has been out injured, and it seems as if it has annoyed McCoist and Brazil.

The Toffees have massively missed Calvert-Lewin, there is no question, but how is he taking part in some adverts slowing down that progress?

It really isn’t; it doesn’t mean that he isn’t focused on returning either.

Instead, it indicates that he is thinking about a career after football, which is something that so many players don’t do. He should actually be praised for this.

However, instead, he has been attacked, and that is very harsh; it has to be said.

Hopefully, Calvert-Lewin will be back soon, but he shouldn’t be criticised for any of the off-field stuff he is involved in.
