Everton make contact over senior man from Europe

Everton have made contact with Denmark manager Kasper Hjulmand as pressure on Rafael Benitez mounts.

B.T in Denmark claim that the Toffees have asked for more information about the 49-year-old and that they have also lodged an official enquiry.

Therefore, they believe that Everton are genuinely interested in recruiting Hjulmand as their next manager.

However, they also claim that Hjulmand is happy with the Danish national team but could the Toffees represent an opportunity too good to turn down?

Hjulmand is a genuine contender.

It seems as if the Dane is a genuine contender to take over from Benitez should the Toffees decide to move the Spaniard on as the form and confidence plummets.

Hjulmand has managed 25 games as Denmark’s manager and led his side to the semi-finals of EURO 2020 earlier this year.

He has also been described as “incredible” by Simon Kjaer in the past [Independent].

However, as a club manager, he has only ever managed FC Nordsjaelland and Mainz.

So, would a move to the Premier League and to a struggling Everton really work?

International management is a lot different to club management, and surely the Toffees would be better off sticking with Benitez?

He has been there and done it so many times in the Premier League that if anyone is going to turn this around, it is him.

Therefore, though Hjulmand looks like an intriguing option, we aren’t convinced that he is worth the risk at all for Everton.
