Everton may look for complete overhaul post Marcel Brands

Gretar Steinsson, the Head of Recruitment at Everton, may leave the club, given his links with Marcel Brands, according to The Athletic.

The Toffees board are understood to be torn between making a clean break from the Brands era and instilling some stability until the new structure has been put in place.

There are some who believe that Steinsson is a “High-profile remnant of Brands’ regime.”

Brands clearly had his pros and cons, but overall his stint at the club has been a disastrous one.

He oversaw some shocking transfers and it’s good that he’s no longer making the big decisions at the club.

However, to blame him solely for the failures is unfair and Steinnson deserves his fair share of criticism as well.

Being in charge of their recruitment, it’s his responsibility to bring players to the club and ensure that they’re signed for the right prices.

It looks like he’s not done a good enough job which has seen the club fall foul of their FFP limits.

It could be that the Toffees are waiting for the January window to end before relieving him of his duties.

There clearly needs to be an overhaul of the way this system operates as it’s not been successful and will not get the club to the promised land.
