Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi wary of key Everton duo

Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi believes that his side have to be wary of Everton duo Richarlison and Andros Townsend.

Speaking to PLP [via South London Press], the former Chelsea defender revealed that the Eagles are still confident despite a bit of a wobble in recent times.

However, he warned Palace to be worried about the Toffees, who finally won on Monday [06 December] after a barren run of results in the league.

Guehi said: “We understand that they’re going to come in with high spirits after their win, but we’re going into the game with the belief that we can get a result from this game.

“They have got fantastic players such as Richarlison and Andros Townsend, who is coming back.

“In the team, there is so much spirit and confidence in what we have done before and earlier on in the season that we just have to take it into this game.”

Guehi sounds a bit nervous.

Although the 21-year-old insists that his side feel confident, he does spend an awful lot of time talking about Everton, suggesting he is a bit nervous.

He mentions Townsend, who had a brilliant start to life at Goodison Park, but he hasn’t scored for them since the Toffees’ 1-1 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford [02 October].

So, what could be a better way to end his goal drought by scoring on his return to Selhurst Park.

We have seen this narrative happen so many times in football that you can’t rule it out happening on Sunday when the two teams meet.

Townsend barely scored at all in his final two seasons with the Eagles, so it would be very funny if he were to score on his return.

This match is actually very important for Everton, and after their win on Monday, another three points would send them back up the table and put them back in contention with the top eight.
