Confirmed Everton starting XI v Chelsea

Everton have confirmed their starting XI for their Premier League clash against Chelsea on Thursday evening.

Rafa Benitez is facing a huge injury crisis and will be without the likes of Richarlison to add to the mounting list on the sidelines.

Confirmed on Twitter prior to kick-off, the Toffees have started the likes of Jonjoe Kenny and Ellis Simms.

There were concerns regarding this game going ahead throughout the day, with Chelsea having COVID-19 issues.

Games in the Premier League are dropping like flies at this current moment in time, and it would have been no surprise to see this one fall.

Many Evertonians will be forgiven for wishing that it would be called off at Stamford Bridge, although Chelsea appear to have enough senior players available.

Compare that to the Toffees, who will need to watch Simms start after Salomon Rondon starting was something that has been making their skin crawl.

The Venezuelan has been nothing short of a disaster so far under Benitez, but after his first goal for the club against Crystal Palace, hopefully, that sparks a revival further down the line.

Everton

Must win?

With all these injury problems facing us at this moment in time, it would be no surprise if wins are even harder to come by.

The win against Arsenal was our first in months, so that is even if it possible to get any harder to pick up three points.

Within the blink of an eye in the Premier League, you can find yourself dropping down the table and in the relegation dog scrap – something that is only a matter of weeks away at Goodison Park.

We will need nothing short of a miracle in the capital by the looks of things, but it would be very Everton to pull off something special when it looks impossible to do just that.

Bring it on.
