Everton ready to sell Lucas Digne in January - Fabrizio Romano

Everton are ready to sell Lucas Digne in January as the Premier League side close in on the signing of Vitaliy Mykolenko, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Sky Sports journalist, writing via his personal Twitter profile on Friday (17 December), claims the 28-year-old French international could leave Goodison Park next month.

Meanwhile, Dynamo Kyiv left-back Mykolenko, 22, is on the brink of a move to Merseyside.

Romano wrote: “Vitaliy Mikolenko will complete his medical as new Everton player today – and then he’ll sign his contract in order to announce the deal as soon as possible. Here-we-go.

“Lucas Digne could really leave Everton in January if a good proposal arrives.”

One in, one out?

It appears Digne’s time at Everton is drawing to a close.

He has been one of the club’s most consistent performers since his 2018 move from Barcelona, establishing himself as one of the best left back’s in Europe.

However, his recent form has been a concern and the writing was on the wall for his Everton career when he fell out with Rafa Benitez earlier this month, being axed from two consecutive matchday squads before missing Thursday’s 1-1 draw at Chelsea (16 December) with illness.

It remains to be seen how much it will cost to tempt the Blues into a sale, but he’s unlikely to have a shortage of suitors.

It’s a shame that Digne’s time at Everton is ending like this, but in his place, the Blues get someone six years his junior who already had major European experience with Dynamo Kyiv and Ukraine.
