Everton set to announce Vitaliy Mykolenko signing in January

Everton are likely to announce the signing of Dynamo Kyiv left-back Vitaliy Mykolenko in January, according to Ukrainian news outlet Zorya Londsk.

Writing via their Twitter account on Thursday evening, it is claimed that a deal to bring the 22-year-old to Goodison Park is practically complete.

They said: “Our sources are saying that Mykolenko to Everton is as good as done! Just awaiting medical/official announcement which will come once January window opens!”

Counting down the days

This is a transfer that has appeared out of nowhere, with the first claims coming on Tuesday (14 December) via Ukrainian media.

Zorya Londsk have been right across it and it appeared that this deal is close to getting over the line.

However, Everton supporters may have to wait a little longer until it is formally announced.

They will be hoping it is just the first of many with the threadbare nature of the current squad dragging the Blues down.

While Thursday’s 1-1 draw at Chelsea was encouraging, it’s now just one win in their last 11 games, and reinforcements are needed to drive them up the table.

The return of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and others should help Rafa Benitez and his charges soon, but the inability to spend much during the summer has crippled them thus far.

But it looks like the issues that prevented them from splurging earlier in the year have dissipated and the Blues can flash the cash in the January transfer window.

In other Everton news, the Blues are plotting a bid for this Dutch sensation ripping up a European league.
