Gary Lineker sends instant reaction after Burnley v Everton postponed
Everton have confirmed that their Premier League game against Burnley has been postponed.
The decision has been made by the Premier League today (24 December) after the club’s request to call the game off due to injuries and positive COVID-19 cases.
Gary Lineker took to Twitter to share his instant reaction after the news broke out ahead of the Boxing Day showdown.

The BBC pundit wrote on Twitter:
“Three down, Five Boxing Day fixtures still standing…for now.”
Common sense
Everton made an appeal yesterday to postpone the game but the Premier League didn’t pay heed.
Rafa Benitez said yesterday (23 December) that he is working with only nine fit outfield players and three goalkeepers.
At the moment, six players are out injured while as many as five players are absent with Covid cases for the Toffees.
Surely, under such circumstances, it wouldn’t be possible for them to travel to Turf Moor and play a game, but Premier League initially thought otherwise.

However, common sense prevailed in the end.
The Boxing Day fixtures are celebrated throughout the country, but with the Covid cases rising, safety comes the first priority.
Already two games have been called off apart from the Everton game, but the rest of the games are expected to go ahead.
The rescheduled fixture will be announced later.
Although everyone loves to enjoy the Boxing Day fixtures, the break will come as a blessing in disguise for the Toffees.
