Kevin Campbell: Lucas Digne sale set as Rafa Benitez has to generate own Everton transfer funds

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Kevin Campbell has insisted that the “writing is on the wall” for the likes of Lucas Digne at Everton in January.

The ex-Toffees talisman believes that Rafa Benitez will need to generate his own transfer funds next month, with numerous sales set.

Marcel Brands has now left the club, leaving the manager to identify and bring in his own targets over the next month as things stand.

“Not a mistake,” he exclusively told Goodison News.

“I just think that there are going to be casualties with what Rafa Benitez has to do, he has to generate his own transfer funds.

“Obviously, players with a sell-on value are going to be the ones that you’re looking to move, and apparently, he’s already got a left-back.

“Writing is on the wall for Lucas Digne.”

Time to go.

Vitaliy Mykolenko is set to arrive at Goodison Park as soon as the window opens, and that is perfect news.

The Sunday People have reported that the Ukrainian will be announced on the 1st of January as the Toffees get their window off to a bang.

Digne is clearly not in the plans of Benitez, neither does he want to be, meaning that an exit is the best way forward.

With the likes of Chelsea and Inter Milan said to be interested, hopefully, a deal can be sorted sooner rather than later.
