Kevin Campbell reacts to Everton signing Nathan Patterson
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell has urged Seamus Coleman to help mentor new Everton signing Nathan Patterson at Goodison Park.
The ex-Toffees talisman has urged the former Rangers sensation to jump in and get his feet wet as he looks to impress Rafa Benitez.
Patterson followed Vitaliy Mykolenko through the door in Merseyside this week for up to £16million [Sky], with Farhad Moshiri financially backing the moves.
“It’s been in the offing for a while,” he exclusively told Goodison News.
“We were even speaking about this in the summer in that window, obviously the powers have sotted it out to recruit the young man.
“He’s a young, up and coming talented lad who you’ve got someone really good to learn from in Seamus Coleman, he needs to help there.
“This youngster needs to get in and get his feet wet because that is two full-backs Rafa Benitez has bought now.”
Coleman remains one of the biggest bargains in Premier League history to this day since his move to Goodison Park all those years ago.
Patterson is arriving in a similar situation in his youth, albeit for a lot more money from Scottish champions Rangers.
The Scotland international could do a lot worst than Coleman as a mentor, and given his success at the club for the past decade, expect more of that from Patterson in the years to come.
