Kevin Campbell backs Vitaliy Mykolenko to make Everton debut v Hull City
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell has insisted that Everton are likely to hand Vitaliy Mykolenko his debut in the FA Cup clash with Hull this afternoon.
The ex-Toffees talisman has backed the Ukrainian to be thrown into a baptism of fire in one of England’s most historic competitions.
Campbell admitted that Mykolenko is desperately needed and should be chomping at the bit to make his debut under Rafa Benitez.
“I’d like to think so,” he exclusively told Goodison News.
“He got paraded to the Goodison faithful and I’m sure he’s chomping at the bit to play, so why not?
“FA Cup, little baptism of fire there, get him in there and get him playing because he is needed.”
Benitez is facing a real dilemma this afternoon.
Does he rotate his squad and hand out some much-needed breaks, or does he go full strength with a win desperately needed?
Mykolenko is a shoo-in at left-back if he is fully fit, with Lucas Digne halfway out the exit door at Goodison Park.
There was big applause for our first signing of the window when he was paraded against Brighton last week, let’s hope he can have a similar effect on the pitch.
