Everton star Allan is in talks with Lazio over a return to Italy on loan

Everton could be set to lose influential midfield ironman Allan as reports suggest he could be on his way out of Goodison Park.

According to Il Mattino in Italy, The 31-year-old Brazilian is keen to reunite with former manager Maurizio Sarri at Lazio and that talks have already begun between the two parties.

The report suggests that Everton would be willing to let Allan leave on loan despite him being a regular for Rafael Benitez’s side this season.

He needs to stay

From a purely Everton perspective, Allan can’t really afford to be loaned out given his importance to Benitez’s side both on and off the pitch.

He has partnered Abdoulaye Doucoure in the Toffees midfield all season and they have looked a good fit together, despite a less-than-ideal run of results.

You could argue that Everton need to add another body in the centre of the park rather than lose one given their open, expansive play hasn’t brought about the desired results.

But what the player wants, the players gets these days and it would be harsh of Benitez and Everton to hold Allan down in Merseyside if he has his heart set on reuniting with Sarri, who he played under at Napoli.

The 31-year-old has spent nearly two years at the club and the majority of that has been while under COVID-19 restrictions so you can hardly blame him for wanting a new start.

It is imperative however that Everton get a good loan fee for Allan and his wages are mostly paid for by the Italian side to ensure they can reinvest some of that money into his replacement.

Andre Gomes and Tom Davies will be the two most likely to replace Allan from within, especially after Gomes’ goal in the FA Cup against Hull City.
