Kevin Campbell thrilled as Everton appoint Duncan Ferguson as interim manager
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell has been thrilled by Everton handing the interim manager job to Duncan Ferguson once again.
The ex-Toffees talisman has insisted that the board will now have time to put a plan in place for their next permanent manager.
The Blues take on Aston Villa on Saturday, with Ferguson backed to galvanise the squad ahead of the showdown.
“Dunc being caretaker manager, is great,” he exclusively told Goodison News.
“The way you look at it, you hope Big Dunc has the same galvanising effect as he did last time. You know the fans will be up for it, you hope the team turn up and put the same workrate in.
“It’s Aston Villa, can the team get the same response? That would be great, but again, whether they’re comfortable to give Dunc the job, they have to start a plan of what to do.
“If Dunc is not going to be that manager, or is going to be part of that management team, they go about their business and get in, who they want to get it – it gives them a bit of time.”
Campbell will know Ferguson from their time together at the club, and no one is better placed to get a tune out of this squad.
Big Dunc has been in this position before and will be demanding that his players run themselves into the ground on Saturday.
If they aren’t prepared to do that, they won’t play.
Campbell is backing the board to have the time to now put a plan in place, and this time, they have to make sure that it’s right for everyone involved.
