Everton pull away from Vitor Pereira appointment with Wayne Rooney in frame

Everton have reportedly pulled away from naming Vitor Pereira as their next manager as Farhad Moshiri has been persuaded not to go ahead with it.

According to The Mirror journalist David Maddock, the Toffees have pushed back from the appointment as Moshiri has been told not to make another knee-jerk reaction.

This opens up the possibility of Wayne Rooney returning to the club and are set to interview him if Derby County agree to it.

Good move

Pereira appeared to be a baseless appointment in the first place and it’s glad to see Moshiri make a u-turn.

He’s someone who’s always linked with the Goodison Park hot seat whenever a manager has been sacked or leaves the club.

While Rooney does not have the CV to excite most players, he’s got special connections with the club and its fans.

He’s overachieving at Derby given their financial condition and he would be fantastic for the dressing room as well.

Compared to all the names the club have been genuinely linked with, he seems to be the best option.

This could also see Duncan Ferguson stay on at the club despite his ambitions to be the number one eventually.

It remains to be seen what Moshiri and co. eventually, end up doing as it is a huge decision to make.
