Everton to invite former Roma and Lyon boss Rudi Garcia

Everton will reportedly invite French manager Rudi Garcia for the vacant managerial position after cooling interest in Vitor Pereira.

According to The Mirror, they pulled back from the decision to hire the Portuguese with Farhad Moshiri persuaded not to make a knee-jerk decision.

Now, Garcia will be invited to Goodison Park to offer a presentation and make a case to be the successor to Rafa Benitez.

Right man?

Garcia has nearly three decades of managerial experience and has been in charge of teams of Everton’s stature.

Lyon, Marseille and Roma have all been historically big clubs in their countries but have not quite been at the level of the elite sides.

Everton certainly want to get there and if Moshiri is looking for an experienced hand, then Garcia could be the right option.

His name was even dropped when Manchester United were looking for a new manager so there’s certainly something about him that attracts the big clubs.

While his lack of Premier League experience may be a negative, it’s unlikely that the Toffees are considering that.

Both Benitez and Carlo Ancelotti came with years of English top flight experience under their belts and failed to take this team to the next level.

It remains to be seen what sort of an impact the Frenchman has on the club hierarchy.
