Mikel Arteta jets out to meet Arsenal owner amid interest in Everton ace Calvert-Lewin
Mikel Arteta has reportedly jetted out to the USA to meet with Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke amid links with Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
According to The Telegraph, the main purpose of that visit is to discuss the striker situation at the London club.
The Toffees are said to value Calvert-Lewin at £50million and Arteta is looking for clarity over how much he can shell out to seal his transfer.
Keep at all costs
No matter how much the Gunners offer, Everton must do everything they can to keep him at the club.
Knowing their billionaire owner’s deep pockets, a fee that could be too good to turn down may make Farhad Moshiri’s mouth water.
However, if he resists his temptations, there’s a good chance that the 24-year-old will be worth more in the summer.
While Everton fans would want him to stay forever, they know that he would have loftier ambitions and would want to play Champions League football.
Given how badly the club is run, one would find it hard to fathom when they will challenge for the top four let alone finish in it.
