Fabrizio Romano: Everton enter Donny van de Beek race as Frank Lampard makes first demand
Everton have once again entered the race to sign Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Sky Sports journalist has reported that Frank Lampard has made his first demand for a signing before his appointment even being announced.
The Toffees are desperately low on options at Goodison Park, with Abdoulaye Doucoure and Fabian Delph joining the injured list this week.
Writing on his personal Twitter account, Romano shared the update with Lampard already having an impact at Goodison Park.
“While Crystal Palace are progressing in talks with United since Wednesday, Everton have now entered in the race to sign van de Beek,” he wrote.
“Lampard’s set to sign and wants Everton to try for Donny. Crystal Palace will push again to get the deal done. Two clubs race now.
“Everton and Crystal Palace are both negotiating for a loan move.”
Get it done.
This would be the perfect signing.
Lampard is one of the best midfielders ever to grace the Premier League, so he will know exactly what type of player will succeed in that role.
As well as that, if the former Chelsea man is announced, he will have midfielders desperate to make the move to Everton, as his knowledge will be a major pulling power.
Van de Beek has been consistently linked with a move to Merseyside, and given this is a straight loan, it is perfect for Farhad Moshiri and our Financial Fair Play rules.
There is no huge financial commitment, and it will just be the wages that need paying, with Lampard already lining up perfect signings.
Fingers crossed this is complete before the end of play on Monday evening.
