Cenk Tosun wants to leave Everton, demanding £800,000 in compensation

Everton striker Cenk Tosun wants to leave the club as soon as possible but he is demanding £800,000 from the club as compensation if his contract is terminated early, according to Sabah.

The 30-year-old rejected a move to Hull City in the January transfer window [Gokmen Ozcan, Fanatik] as he was supposedly happy to stay at Goodison Park.

This latest development however has done nothing but raise more questions than it has answered as his future is now in doubt.

Sahab, a Turkish media outlet, report that “Cenk said he wanted to leave the English club, but his priority was to stay in Europe again. It was stated that the 30-year-old football player also wanted 1 million euros (£800,000) of his half-season salary to leave Everton.”

Don’t give in

While usually, the club is keen to expel bad eggs from the club, this situation is slightly more nuanced and they shouldn’t cave to his demands.

Tosun is one of the least senior players in the whole first-team squad and his one appearance this season suggests he doesn’t have the respect that others might in the dressing room.

If he were to kick up a fuss, you can’t see too many, if any of the players rallying around him and turning against the club to aid his wishes.

It is also highly unlikely that Frank Lampard would tolerate such petty behaviour so Tosun might be resigned to spending the rest of the season training more than playing.

Not that it is a big miss for the Toffees with Dominic Calvert-Lewin back fit and Salomon Rondon a more than capable back-up if he is required.

In other Everton news, the club want to seal this board appointment as soon as possible.
