Sky Sports pundit Garry Birtles slams Everton ace Allan v Southampton

Garry Birtles believes that Everton ace Allan could be sent off for his lack of discipline in the first half against Southampton on Saturday.

The Brazilian made a challenge on Kyle Walker-Peters and stopped a clear counter-attack.

He was rightly shown a yellow for that and a few minutes later he made another challenge which saw a few of the Saints players asking for another booking.

Speaking on the Premier League world feed, Birtles, a Sky Sports pundit said, “Why is he smiling after that? He needs to be careful. He was extremely clumsy.

“He may not be smiling after his next tackle. I could see him getting sent off if he plays like that.”

Allan has clearly not started this game well and it can be seen with the decisions he’s making.

While it could be understood why he took one for the team and brought down Walker-Peters, the second challenge is needless.

He needs to know that he cannot keep making unnecessary fouls as he’ll risk the Toffees being down to 10 men.

Frank Lampard needs to have a word with him at the break and ask him to calm down.

Alternatively, the manager could look to bring him off for someone like Dele Alli and give his side more bodies in the final third.

Three points are there for the taking here and it remains to be seen whether or not they can get the win.
