Sky Sports pundit Garry Birtles slams Everton midfielder Andre Gomes v Southampton
Garry Birtles has torn into Everton midfielder Andre Gomes for his cameo off the bench against Southampton on Saturday.
The Portuguese came off the bench for the Toffees but failed to make an impact.
His unnecessary foul in the dying stages of the 2-0 defeat frustrated Birtles who was on commentary for the Premier League world feed.
The Sky Sports pundit said, “Ridiculous decision to give the free kick away. He’s not been good since coming on, has he?”
Shocking display
There was no heart or grit in this Everton performance and they deserved to get beaten.

It was like Frank Lampard had approached this one without a game plan as most players seemed clueless.
Gomes, who came on for Allan, did little to prove that he was an upgrade on the Brazilian.
Allan was having a shocker and Lampard would have thought the Portuguese would’ve been better.
That certainly was not the case and he would’ve regretted this decision.
Hopefully, the slump ends quickly as Everton are facing a very real threat of relegation.
Dele Alli has been used sparingly by Lampard so far and the former Chelsea boss needs to start getting him into the action as he has the ability to turn games around in the blink of an eye.
