Everton confirmed starting XI for FA Cup clash v Boreham Wood

Everton have confirmed their starting XI for the FA Cup fifth round clash against Boreham Wood on Thursday evening (March 3).

The Toffees will be looking to book themselves into the draw for the quarterfinals as they welcome the non-league side to Goodison Park.

Confirmed on Twitter prior to kick-off, Frank Lampard decided to hand Nathan Patterson his first-team debut and start Vitaliy Mykolenko as captain amid the Ukraine conflict.

No excuses

The Blues should breeze past Boreham Wood with no problems at all tonight.

They have done excellently to get to this stage of the competition and knock some of the bigger teams out on route, but the giant killings end now.

With that being said, the players need to treat the game with the utmost professionalism to avoid any upset. The opposition will be raring to go and right up for the biggest match of their season and maybe even their history as they travel to Goodison.

Everton

Lampard has a huge lifeline in the shape of the FA Cup this season. If he wins tonight then the Blues are only one game away from a trip to Wembley and another away from a final, something they haven’t achieved since 2009 where they lost to Chelsea in the FA Cup.

The fans are desperate for some silverware having not won anything since 1995 and if Lampard manages to win something this early into his tenure, he will already be considered an Everton legend.

Just go out and win tonight lads.
